Teaching Philosophy

Whole Heart Yoga is grounded in the belief that yoga is for humans--for messy, beautiful, and ever-changing lives. Classes are offered in an inclusive, nurturing, and trauma-informed style that honors each student's unique journey. Through intuitive movement and conscious breath, students are invited to turn inward with compassion and curiosity.Rooted in Yogic philosophy and inspired by the shifting rhythms of nature, each class is an invitation to slow down, feel deeply, and move with intention. There is no need to perform or perfect--only to find space to be, to breathe, and to connect with the wisdom within you.

About Dana

Hi, I’m Dana--the heart behind Whole Heart Yoga. I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (and lifelong student), committed to creating space for healing, growth, and wholehearted alignment through mindful movement and breath. While I was navigating a profound loss in my life, yoga became a refuge when everything else felt like too much. I had been practicing yoga semi-regularly when I became a young widow, suddenly navigating grief while raising a toddler on my own. In the midst of my overwhelm, my practice became a place for stillness and care, a way to reconnect to myself and begin to heal. As I deepened my practice, I came to fully recognize the gifts yoga had to offer. In 2024, I stepped away from a long career in public librarianship to focus more fully on parenting and sharing the transformative power of yoga. My approach is gentle, inclusive, and rooted in compassion. Whether you’re brand new to yoga or already a regular on your mat, I would love to meet you where you are and share a practice together.
